Gateway personal answer to Dell Bat Recall.

Thank you for your e-mail. Regarding your concern if Gateway is
affected with the battery issues of Sony, be guided that Gateway has
extensive measures in place to ensure product safety. Based on
available information and our supplier's input, we do not believe our
systems are at risk for the same malfunctions that caused Dell to issue
its battery recall. It appears that a combination of factors led to the
fault requiring the Dell recall, and this combination is not present in
our systems. Gateway notebooks use different battery cells than those
implicated in Dell's recall. We also made different design decisions in
the interest of the customer, which appear to prevent the issues
involved. As always, we continue to be diligent in our efforts to
deliver products that provide industry-leading quality, reliability and
safety.

I hope the information that I have listed was of help.

I have documented this correspondence in Service Request Number
masked in our contact tracking database. Please use this number in
the future if you need to contact us again regarding this issue.

Please reply to this message if you require further assistance with this
issue. If your reply is received while I am out of the office, to
ensure a speedy resolution, your issue will be handled by one of my
colleagues.

My Way News - Yahoo Teams Up With HP on Search Engine

My Way News - Yahoo Teams Up With HP on Search Engine: "SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Yahoo Inc. (YHOO) said Thursday it has struck a deal with Hewlett-Packard Co. to plant its Internet search engine on millions of computers, the latest volley in a high-stakes battle with Google Inc. (GOOG) and Microsoft Corp. (MSFT)
The alliance unites two companies trying to catch up to the longtime leaders in their respective fields.
Sunnyvale-based Yahoo ranks a distant second to Google in the lucrative search engine market while Palo Alto-based HP continues to trail Dell Inc. (DELL) in personal computer sales despite recent gains.
The agreement requires HP to set up its desktop and notebook PCs in North America so Yahoo's search engine appears in the toolbar of Microsoft's Internet Explorer 7, the next version of the Web's most widely used browser. Yahoo is hoping that the tool bar will generate more search requests, providing a springboard for more ad revenue."

My Way News - Microsoft to Charge $249.99 for Zune

My Way News - Microsoft to Charge $249.99 for Zune: "SEATTLE (AP) - Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) has vowed to put considerable money and effort behind its bid to dethrone Apple Computer Inc. (AAPL)'s market-leading iPod, but it won't be using price as a weapon.
Microsoft announced Thursday that it will charge $249.99 for its new Zune music player, about the same as Apple Computer Inc. charges for an iPod with the same storage capacity.
Microsoft's portable music player and its companion online music service will debut on Nov. 14 in the United States, just ahead of the holiday gift-buying rush.
The music service will let people buy songs individually for about 99 cents, the same amount Apple charges for songs from its popular iTunes Music Store.
For Zune, Microsoft will use the same payment system as its Xbox Live online video game service, which lets people without credit cards buy prepaid cards at some retail stores."

My Way Finance: "MySpace may be worth $15 billion

Wednesday September 27, 9:49 PM EDT

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - MySpace, the social networking Web site, could be worth around $15 billion within three years, measured in terms of the value created for shareholders of parent company News Corp. (NWSa), a Wall Street media analyst forecast on Wednesday.
RBC Capital analyst Jordan Rohan said he had come away from a meeting with Fox Interactive, the managers of MySpace, believing that 'media investors may not fully appreciate what has already been done with MySpace or what may lie ahead.'
'$15 billion in a few years? It is possible,' Rohan wrote in a research note to clients.
MySpace was acquired by Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. for $580 million less than a year ago. It now boasts more than 90 million active users.

Rohan said MySpace could demonstrate a value of between $10 billion and $20 billion within a few years. Acknowledging he was making an 'audacious claim' he justified the forecast on the basis of MySpace's 'raw, unprecedented user/usage growth.'"

Lexington Herald-Leader | 09/17/2006 | No passport required: "RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico - Columbus stumbled upon the island in 1493 and claimed it for Spain. Ponce de Leon followed in 1508 and gave the island its name, 'rich port.' The Spanish brought with them diseases for which the Taino had no immunities, and the natives' numbers dwindled.
Because of Puerto Rico's strategic position as the 'gateway to the Caribbean,' the Spanish built huge stone forts to protect their prize. The English and the Dutch tested them, but the Spanish held strong until 1898, when the United States landed troops. An armistice was signed and Puerto Rico became a U.S. commonwealth, ending Spain's military dominance but leaving its traditions and heritage intact.
Today, the great forts still loom over Old San Juan, the historic area that is Puerto Rico's version of the French Quarter, without the seamy side of Bourbon Street. Tourists scamper over the walls and courtyards of the forts and walk the cobblestone streets of the old town, with its boldly painted houses bedecked with wrought-iron balconies dripping with ferns and flowers.
Visitors from the United States need no passport, wait in no customs lines, spend U.S. currency and are greeted by residents who usually speak English and Spanish."

My Way News - Sony Cuts Price of PlayStation 3 to $410: "TOKYO (AP) - Sony Corp. (SNE) said Friday it will lower the price of its much-anticipated PlayStation 3 video game console, heating up the competition in the next-generation gaming war against rivals Microsoft and Nintendo.
The announcement comes just days after Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) announced that it would roll out an external high definition DVD player for its Xbox 360 in an effort to match the PlayStation 3, which is due to be released later this year with its own Blu-ray DVD technology.
Sony will cut the price of its basic PlayStation 3 model in Japan to 47,600 yen ($410), from an originally planned 59,800 yen ($515). That puts the PlayStation 3 in the same range as the combined basic Xbox 360 and HD DVD player in Japan, where the duo will sell for 49,600 yen ($427)."

My Way News - Iranian Leader Urges More Papal Protests: "CAIRO, Egypt (AP) - Al-Qaida in Iraq warned Pope Benedict XVI on Monday that its war against Christianity and the West will go on until Islam takes over the world, and Iran's supreme leader called for more protests over the pontiff's remarks on Islam.
Protests broke out in South Asia and Indonesia, with angry Muslims saying Benedict's statement of regret a day earlier did not go far enough. In southern Iraq, demonstrators carrying black flags burned an effigy of the pope.
Islamic leaders around the world issued more condemnations of the pope's comments, but some moderates in the Middle East appeared to be trying to put a damper on the outrage, fearing it could spiral into attacks on Christians in the region.
On Sunday, Benedict said he was 'deeply sorry' over any hurt caused by his comments made in a speech last week, in which he quoted a medieval text characterizing some of the Prophet Muhammad's teachings as 'evil and inhuman' and calling Islam a religion spread by the sword.
Benedict said the remarks came from a text that didn't reflect his own opinion, but he did not retract what he said or say he was sorry he uttered what proved to be explosive words."

My Way News - Pope Said to Be Upset Muslims Offended: "VATICAN CITY (AP) - Pope Benedict XVI 'sincerely regrets' that Muslims have been offended by some of his words in a recent speech in Germany, the Vatican said Saturday - stopping short of issuing an apology the Islamic world has demanded.
The new Vatican secretary of state, Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, said the pope's position on Islam is unmistakably in line with Vatican teaching that the church regards Muslims with 'esteem.'"

My Way News - Nintendo Wii to Hit U.S. Stores Nov. 19

My Way News - Nintendo Wii to Hit U.S. Stores Nov. 19: "NEW YORK (AP) - Nintendo's quirky game console, the Wii, will go on sale in the U.S. on Nov. 19 for $249.99, a price far lower than competing consoles from Sony and Microsoft Corp. (MSFT), the company said Thursday.
In an unusual move for the launch of a Japanese product, the Wii will go on sale in Japan two weeks after the U.S. launch.
The Wii, which is about the size of a large paperback book, is the successor to Nintendo's GameCube, the third-best selling console of its generation after the PlayStation 2 and the original Xbox. Nintendo Co.'s Game Boy and Nintendo DS are dominant in the market for portable game machines, but the company hasn't been a market leader in consoles since the early 1990s."

Samsung New Ship

MYWAY NEWS

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) - Samsung Electronics Co. on Monday unveiled a new type of memory chip that it said will allow digital devices to work faster by saving new data more quickly.

The phase-change random access memory, or PRAM, chip is nonvolatile, meaning it will retain data even when an electronic device is turned off, and is about 30 times faster than conventional flash memory, Samsung said.

It is expected to be available in 2008, Samsung said. A 512-megabit prototype PRAM device was unveiled at a news conference in Seoul on Monday.

Currently, two types of nonvolatile flash memory chips - NOR and NAND - are widely used in electronic devices.

NOR chips are suitable for running software directly, but are slower and are more expensive to manufacture, while NAND chips are easier to make in larger capacities but are more suitable for large data files, such as MP3 music.

Samsung said the PRAM chips use vertical diodes and a three-dimensional transistor structure to create a small cell size. Unlike NOR and NAND chips, they don't need to first erase any old data in a separate step before storing any new data, it said.

$10 a Gallon Gas or A Nuclear Iran. Were you stand?

I had hear many so called “experts” and “educated” people saying that it is more acceptable a nuclear armed Iran that a military conflict with it. This because Iran will retaliate cutting oil supplies and that we will have to paid anywhere from $4-10 a gallon at the pump. I don’t know about you. But I certainly will pay any amount necessary in supporting my country in our self defense. It will be nice to save money on gas to go on those highly desired vacation to Disney World. The bad part of that is that the maniacs on Iran had developed a nuclear weapon and passed it to radical terrorist (Muslims terrorist) They had managed to infiltrate the US using the Mexican border and had traveled to Orlando FL. Were they detonate the bomb on DW. Well it was worth saving those dollar in gas by not stopping Iran. It was? Now your family is pulverized by them. There is so many cowards making decision and making assessments that it really scares me.

If we as American do not support our country, our freedom, our troops and our lives. Who is going to. The mullah in Iran or the guy in the Muslim mosque in San Fransisco or New York using that’s same freedom of religion we have to spread their retarded views.

DON’T BE A COWARD STAND UP AND SUPPORT OUR NATION YOU CAN AND YOU SHOULD.

RED HERRING | Verizon Backs Down on DSL Fees

RED HERRING | Verizon Backs Down on DSL Fees: "Under pressure from the U.S. Federal Communications Commission and consumer groups, Verizon Communications has removed a controversial surcharge from its DSL customers bills.

Verizon, along with BellSouth, had tacked on the fee earlier this month after the U.S. government dropped the universal service fund recovery fee, which Verizon had passed along to customers.

FCC Chairman Kevin Martin was reported to be outraged over the extra fee that Verizon and BellSouth said they would continue to impose on customers and threatened to send a letter of inquiry to both carriers on Friday.

BellSouth agreed to drop the fee Friday, and on Wednesday, after receiving the missive from the FCC, Verizon has now agreed to drop the fee as well.

Last summer, FCC regulators altered the rules so carriers no longer had to pay into the universal service fund, which helps subsidize phone service in rural parts of the United States, as well as service for low-income customers. "

Fanaticism: Fire Kofi Annan Petition

Our troops are always the bad ones, and the terrorist just victims.

"An Army investigator has recommended that four soldiers accused of murder in a raid in Iraq should face the death penalty if convicted, according to a report obtained Saturday by The Associated Press"

I recognize that in every organization are members that do not behave as they should. But we all know how this fundamentalist terrorist are. They can shot you and it was Alas work. You shot them and they are victims. They can kill thousands and is all right only if the killer is an Arab. They are terrorists killers and cowards. They disguise as civilians to kill and then if one of them is kill it was just a poor innocent civilian. They send woman and children to kill. They do so as a double weapon kill and get the media attention when one of this woman or child is kill. Because again they are just victims. That’s why I get so upset when the media and every one judge our owns so bad but are so kind with the terrorists. When they believe this radical. Well I guess its for the rating. And does politics that take advantage of situations like this to advance their careers. Then they wonder why our recruiting rates are below. Our soldier not only feel attack by the terrorist but by the media and the politics and the cowards that disguise their self as “peaceful” shame on all them.

Whats wrong with Kofi Annan?

"U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan said Friday that Syria has pledged to step up border patrols and work with the Lebanese army to stop the flow of weapons to Hezbollah"

If Kofi Anna believe terrorist Syrian president well that’s he’s problem but he should not expect everyone to believe that. I can't even understand how he will believe that. I had said it before and I will keep saying it. We need a true lieder as the Secretary General of the UN and not a poppet of the terrorist. This guy (Kofi Annan) wants to satisfy all the radical and that I really can't stand it and I know most of you either.
